Basically a professor and a female student from the
University of Minnesota were the main authors for a
published paper in 2006 about a new discovery of a
substance that causes alzheimers in the brain. It was such a
massive breakthrough that for 16 years afterwards, other
neuroscientists and researchers around the world would
reference that paper and design their drugs and treatments
towards attacking that substance (all the while alzheimer
drugs remained at 99% failure rate).
In early 2022 another scientist was looking at a company
which was developing an alzheimer drug to attack this
newfound substance and reading their paper and their
reasoning behind it (to see if it was a scam or not) and he
noticed that the images that they referenced looked off and
obviously shopped. He dug further and spread word to the
NIH (National Institutes of Health), and an NIH guy (who
coincidentally was a co-author on the 2006 paper) awarded a
grant to the same people who wrote the paper to study
alzheimers. Word spread and others looked into the original
2006 paper and the data and determined that the images
were doctored and the substance isn't actually real and
literally can't be proven outside of the 2006 paper. All the
research and drugs produced were targeting something that
doesn't fucking exist.
This means that the majority of the past 16 years of
Alzheimers research and drugs is complete bunk and based
on someones imagination. Billions of dollars were sunk into
complete bunk, many people died taking these drugs which
did nothing, and over a decade of research was wasted, but
that's academia for you. It's just one big circlejerk of who you
know in high places, and biding time until you get seniority
then jerk off the people you know. "Trust the science".
